The news was released on 29 March 2013, after a bilateral meeting between Hor Namhong, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Kingdom of Cambodia and Shen Peiping, vice governor of Yunnan Province, People’s Republic of China. The Yunnan province’s investment in Cambodia is worth around US$4 billion (US$3.9 billion). Hor Namhong also requested the Chinese delegation to increase their investment on tourism, hotels, agriculture and rice mills. So far Prime Minister Hun Sen and Former Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao have set a goal to boost the bilateral trade between the two countries from the current $2 billion to $5 billion by 2017.
HUN Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia will pay an official visit to China from this 6th-10th April 2013 as invited by Li Keqiang, Primer of the People’s Republic of China. During visit, HUN Sen will meet and discuss with top leaders of People’s Republic of China. The forthcoming visit of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen to China early next month will bring deeper relations and cooperation between the two countries, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong said Friday, 29 March 2013.
During the visit, the leaders of the two countries will sign an action plan in order to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation, which was established in 2010. Also, the two governments will set up an inter-governmental committee in order to monitor the implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation, Xinhua News.
As stated in the press releases of MFA-IC on 01 April 2013, HUN Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia is also invited to attend the 21st annual China Import and Export Fair and the 1st China-South Asia Exposition from 6th to 10th June 2013. Minister for Council Ministers Sok An and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong were also invited to attend the exhibition. Hor Namhong also indicated that the visiting of Prime Minister Hun Sen to China is convened on the Occasion of the 55th Anniversary of the Bilateral Diplomatic Relationship between Cambodia and China,”China-Cambodia Friendship Year.”
Recalled that the Cambodia and China friendship tie was founded in 1958 by Cambodia’s late former King Norodom Sihanouk and former Chinese President Mao Zedong and Premier Zho Enlai.
