Ieng Sary, Former Foreign Minister of Khmer Rouge Died at 87

Ieng Sary died at 8:45 am in the morning of 14 March 2013, a spokesman of the ECCC said. He was urgently hospitalized  in Cambodia-Russia Friendship Hospital (Soviet Hospital) since 04 March 2013.

Ieng Sary was the former Foreign Minister of Democratic Kampuchea, member of the Standing Committee and Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kampuchea, and also known as the “Brother Number Three” after Noun Chea. He is accused in the case of 002 which is handling by the ECCC responsible for genocide, crimes against humanity, grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions of 1949. The death of the Ieng Sary will heighten fears the remaining defendants may not survive to see justice at the court.
